Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 28, 2026

KnowYourHomePolicy ("we", "us") is an educational tool that turns homeowners insurance documents into plain-English summaries. We've designed this service around a simple promise: we don't keep your policy.

What we collect

When you upload a PDF, the file is read inside your browser. The extracted text is sent to our backend and forwarded to a third-party large language model ("LLM") to generate your summary and answer chat questions. We do not collect your name, email, address, or any account information — there is no sign-up.

We may collect basic, non-identifying server logs (timestamps, IP, error codes) for security and abuse prevention. These logs are not used to build a profile of you.

How we use it

  • To produce your plain-English summary and answer your chat questions.
  • To detect and prevent abuse of the service.

Storage and retention

We do not store your policy text or summary on our servers. Everything held while you use the site lives in your browser tab and is gone when you close it.

The third-party LLM provider that processes your text may retain inputs briefly for abuse monitoring per their standard policy (typically up to ~30 days) and then deletes them. The provider does not use your data to train its models.

Sharing

We do not sell your data. The only third party your text is shared with is the LLM provider used to generate the summary, and only for that purpose. All transit is over TLS (HTTPS).

Cookies

KnowYourHomePolicy does not use tracking or advertising cookies. The site may use strictly-necessary storage to keep your session working (for example, holding your in-progress summary in browser memory).

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Because we don't keep your policy or build an account for you, there is nothing for us to delete on request — your right to deletion is automatic. If you have questions about data we may hold (such as server logs), email support@knowyourhomepolicy.com.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above will reflect the latest revision.
